Earl Grey

A dark chocolate shell with a dark chocolate earl grey infused ganache center.

I love a warm cup of tea. The amount of tea in my house is unfortunately a bit out of control.  I have an entire kitchen drawer dedicated to tea and an overflow box in a hallway closet. Earl Grey is my favorite tea.  My favorite Earl Grey tea is the purple Twinings Earl Grey from London.  Not only do they make a decaf version (which is perfect for me) but it also reminds me of traveling through the UK visiting Castles, monuments, and beautiful gardens.  There are many legends surrounding the origin of Earl Grey tea.  The most popular is that it was a gift from a Chinese official to British Prime minister Charles Grey for saving his son.  Others believe that it was invented to cover the taste of lime in the water at Lord Grey’s estate or that it was purely a happy accidental discovery.  Whatever the origin, it is now one of the most commonly recognized tea flavors in the world with flavors of bergamot, citrus, and even lavender that blends beautifully with chocolate  One of my favorite meals in the world is a cup of tea, a pastry, and a high quality chocolate.  May this bon-bon bring the same joy to you as you share a magical moment with those in your life over a cup of tea…and some chocolate.
